We’ve all been there—the shoulder discomfort that lingers for weeks, the knee or elbow “tendonitis” that flares up every time we train or exercise. But it’s not “bad enough” to stop, so we push through.
So what’s really going on?
Oftentimes, the issue stems from doing the same things over and over—same movements, same loads, same compensations. That repetition builds stress in the body, which can lead to one of two things: over-training or actual injury.
Here’s the difference:
Over-training shows up as fatigue, slower recovery, dips in performance, and full-body soreness. It’s your system being overworked.
Injury tends to be sharp, specific, and tied to one movement or area of the body.
Over-training usually improves with proper rest, nutrition, and recovery.
Injury often persists unless you address the root cause—like mobility restrictions, joint mechanics, or movement faults.
